Programme descriptionThe Master's Programme in Statistics is aimed at students with an interest in statistics, who intend to qualify for research, development or teaching, and who seek employment where education in statistics is required or considered an advantage.; Within the master`s programme in statistics you can choose among the following specialisations:; - Data Analysis - Financial and Insurance Mathematics - Mathematical Statistics; Depending on the chosen specialisation, the profile will either be focused on techniques concerning analyses of given collections of data, theory of insurance and financial mathematics, or a study of different aspects of the statistical methods. At present, the statistics group is loosely organised in subgroups doing research in the following areas: time series, mathematical finance and insurance and biostatistics. A master`s programme in statistics consists of an individual research project (master`s thesis) of 60 ECTS, and courses or special topics of 60 ECTS. Some of the courses are compulsory within the specialisations. You will choose the other courses in agreement with the academic supervisor.
 
Application deadlineSelf-financing applicants: Application deadline for applicants from a non-visa country (do not need a visa to enter Norway) is 1 April for the autumn semester/1 October for the spring semester. Applicants from a visa-country (need a visa to enter Norway) have to apply before 1 December for the following academic year.; Applicants for the Quota Sheme: 1 December for the following academic year.

Formal prerequisitesA first degree (bachelor's degree) of three or four years' duration from an approved institution of higher education, as well as proficiency in the English language. Your bachelor's degree must contain at least one year of mathematics covering calculus, linear algebra and statistics' - with first class results.
