UiS ligger på et 1200 dekar stort område i naturskjønne omgivelser på Ullandhaug med Universitetsbibliotek, bokhandel, kafeer, kaffebar, treningsfasiliteter og helsetjenester. Vi er spesielt stolte av SiS sportssenter på 5600 m2 som ligger sentralt på Campus.

Programme descriptionThe course is concerned with reading and the written language, with focus on the English-speaking world. It combines different approaches, including linguistic, cultural, historical, social, didactic and literary ones. Texts studied during the course will range from medieval manuscripts to comics and e-mail messages. Some of the topics to be studied are: the uses of writing and speech oral and written styles and genres
  • oral and literate cultures the history of books and readership different writing systems and standards the technology of the written word from runes to SMS learning to read and write reading and writing difficulties There will be good opportunities for students to focus on their own areas of interest.

    Formal prerequisitesThe course normally builds upon a first degree such as the Norwegian Bachelor degree or equivalent, which includes at least 80 credits (ECTS) in English. (This corresponds to 1 1/3 year of full-time study). The evaluation of the students is based on their individual qualifications in relation to the prevailing rules. Students with a different educational background may also be found qualified for admission on the programme; such cases are considered individually by the Faculty. English language proficiency required.
