Programme descriptionThe study program will give you a broad introduction to ecology, evolution or systematic research. The program covers themes that range from the biology of single organisms to biogeographical patterns, and you can immerse yourself in both theoretical and applied research. Through choosing your own subjects and working independently, you will acquire scientific competence. By working on the masters project you will learn to work in a scientific manner. After completing the study you will have a working knowledge of scientific methods and have developed the ability for critical thinking based upon knowledge of the subjects.
 
Application deadlineSelf-financing applicants: Application deadline for applicants from a non-visa country (do not need a visa to enter Norway) is 1 April for the autumn semester/1 October for the spring semester. Applicants from a visa-country (need a visa to enter Norway) have to apply before 1 December for the following academic year.; Applicants for the Quota Sheme: 1 December for the following academic year.

Formal prerequisitesa) Completed an undergraduate study of at least three years (B.Sc.) from an approved institution of higher education, or an equivalent background accepted by the University of Bergen. b) Competence in biology corresponding to 60 ECTS (1 year) of introductory biology. c) English proficiency must be documented according to specified requirements.
