| Programme description | The programme aims at building capacities in the fields of Animal Breeding and Genetics to meet challenges in developed and developing countries concerning food security, food quality, animal health, welfare and biodiversity. The focus is on the development of sustainable breeding programmes for farm animals, fish and companion animals. The programme is run by a consortium of six European universities, one being SLU. Students conduct the major part of their training at two of the universities (double degree). The annual student enrolment is expected to be 30 third-country students (may apply for scholarships) and 18 European students. The programme, which is funded by the European Union (Erasmus Mundus), will start in August 2007. |
