Programme descriptionThe goal of the programme is to give the students a deep insight into, and review of the discipline marine biodiversity and community ecology. Students who have succeeded will have a good knowledge of the flora and fauna in Norwegian and Nordic seas, insight into and experience with use of marine biological fields and lab methodologies, and in general methods for studying biodiversity. The students will also be trained in conducting an independent scientific study. ; A master's programme in aquaculture biology consists of an individual research project (master's thesis) of 60 ECTS credits, and courses or special topics of 60 ECTS credits. Some of the courses are compulsory within the specialisations. You will choose the other courses in agreement with your academic supervisor. In agreement with your academic supervisor you will chooose a master's thesis (60 ECTS) and make a profession plan containing important milestones for your project. The master's thesis will often include an experiment.
 
Application deadlineSelf-financing applicants: Application deadline for applicants from a non-visa country (do not need a visa to enter Norway) is 1 April for the autumn semester/1 October for the spring semester. Applicants from a visa-country (need a visa to enter Norway) have to apply before 1 December for the following academic year.; Applicants for the Quota Sheme: 1 December for the following academic year.

Formal prerequisitesa) Completed a first-degree study of at least three years (B.Sc.) from an approved institution of higher education, or an equivalent background accepted by the University of Bergen. b) Competence in biology corresponding to 60 ECTS (1 year) of introductory biology. c) English proficiency must be documented according to specified requirements. ; Your bachelor's degree must include competence in biology corresponding to 60 ECTS (1 year) of introductory biology.
