| Programme description | In the course of your studies you will develop both in breadth and depth your skills in and knowledge of the Chinese language. Strengthening reading ability of modern and/or pre-modern texts is especially emphasised, as is a basic insight into the history of the Chinese language and its many variations as well as theoretical understanding of relevant questions of general linguistics. Work with the Master?s Degree thesis will make you competent to do individual work on extensive projects and develop your ability to analyse and to select relevant information from large amounts of data. The MA course in Chinese language forms the basis for admission to the PhD course of study in the same subject. |

| Formal prerequisites | Applicants for Master's Degree Programmes are required to have a minimum of 3 years of study at a recognized university or college beyond the minimum requirements for matriculation at a Norwegian institution of higher education, which means to a level equivalent to a Norwegian Bachelor Degree. ; Applicants must also meet the English language requirements: TOEFL-test score of at least 550 (written) or 213 (computer-based) or IELTS overall band of at least 6.0. |
