Programme descriptionNoway is one of the world's leading oil producers. Most major oil companies and contractors in the world have operations in Norway. Extracting oil from the depths of the Norwegian Continental Shelf has lead to new challenges, and technological research. Some of the advanced technology within this field has its roots in the scientific community at the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics at NTNU. Since 1994 this department has offered two international MSc programmes, specializing in either Petroleum Engineering or Petroleum Geosciences. The international students study in integrated classes with the Norwegian students in the 4th and 5th year of the regular Norwegian master's programmes in Petroleum Engineering/ Geosciences. As NTNU often supplies the oil companies with graduate engineers, the MSc graduates from NTNU are likely to establish important contracts, that will enhance their future career. The MSc programmes in Petroleum Engineering, and Petroleum Geosciences, consist of course work of 60 credits, and a master's thesis of 30 credits in the 4th, and final semester.
