Programme descriptionThe MSc programme in Coastal and Marine Civil Engineering takes 2 years of full-time studies (120 credits). The first year consists of 2 compulsory courses, and 2 elective course. In the autumn semester in the 2nd year, students specialize in Marine Civil Engineering or Arctic Marine Civil Engineering. The last semester is spent on the master's thesis (30 credits). Graduates will develop and improve their abilities to support sustainable development and use of resources in the ocean and the coastal zone, enhance the development of the sea/land interface in relation to transport and infrastructure, assess and evaluate coastal zone processes, and evaluate, plan, design and construct port, coastal and marine civil engineering works, also in cold climate. Formal prerequisitesAcademic requirements: BSc/BEng degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering or Harbour Engineering. Applicants with an equivalent BSc/BEng degree in Engineering may also be considered if they have 2-3 years relevant work experience within port and coastal works. ; English requirements: International applicants should document either a TOEFL test with a mimum paper score of 500 (170 computer based test) or better, or an IELTS test score of minimum 5.0 or better.
