Programme descriptionThe programme focuses on juvenile production of salmonids and marine fish. Emphasis is on life history strategies, especially reproductive physiology and ontogeny (smoltification and metamorphosis). A master´s programme in aquaculture biology consists of an individual research project (master?s thesis) of 60 ECTS, and courses or special topics of 60 ECTS. Some of the courses are compulsory within the specialisations. You will choose the other courses in agreement with your academic supervisor. ; In agreement with your academic supervisor, you will choose a master´s thesis (60 ECTS) and make a progression plan containing important milestones for your project. The master´s thesis can be either a practical research experiment, or analyses of collected data series. In the work with the master´s thesis you will, in an independent way, make use of methods and scientific working methods from the subject field in the research of a relevant material. The master´s thesis can be based on your own field work and/or available data - or it can be of a more theoretical and experimental character.
 
Application deadlineSelf-financing applicants: Application deadline for applicants from a non-visa country (do not need a visa to enter Norway) is 1 April for the autumn semester/1 October for the spring semester. Applicants from a visa-country (need a visa to enter Norway) have to apply before 1 December for the following academic year.; Applicants for the Quota Sheme: 1 December for the following academic year.

Formal prerequisitesA first degree (bachelor's degree) of three or four years' duration from an approved institution of higher education, as well as proficiency in the English language. Your bachelor,s degree must include knowledge of and competence in biology/aquaculture biology corresponding to 60 ECTS (1 year)
