Programme descriptionThe European Master's Programme in Aquaculture and Fisheries was introduced in the autumn of 2005. The University College Cork (Ireland), the University of Bergen (Norway), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim (Norway), Wageningen University (the Netherlands), Universidade do Algarve (Portugal), Ghent University (Belgium) and the University of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland) are teaching and research institutions with international reputations within aquaculture and fisheries.; These universities share similar missions, academic interests and research foci. All participating universities offer complementary courses taught in English towards the European Master's in Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme. All partner universities carry out frontline research in extensive wet and dry laboratory facilities. This means that they are offering you training in practical science with direct application to either the aquaculture industry or fundamental research. All of the partner universities benefit from well-established cooperation ties with research institutes and the aquaculture industry (companies and farms).
 
Application deadlineSelf-financing applicants: Application deadline for applicants from a non-visa country (do not need a visa to enter Norway) is 1 April for the autumn semester/1 October for the spring semester. Applicants from a visa-country (need a visa to enter Norway) have to apply before 1 December for the following academic year.

Formal prerequisitesa) Completed a first-degree study of at least three years (B.Sc.) from an approved institution of higher education, or an equivalent background accepted by the University of Bergen. b) Competence in biology corresponding to 60 ECTS points (1 year) of introductory biology. c) English proficiency must be documented according to specified requirements. ; You need a completed Bachelor of Science degree in aquaculture, biology, marine and aquatic sciences, fishery sciences, agriculture, agronomy, veterinary medicine, or any related area. You need a minimum grade point average of C (7/10). You will be screened on the eligibility by the responsible department of the home university.The identity of two referees and their motivation to support you as an applicant, as described in their recommendation letters, will be important criteria. A short CV of the referees will also be requested. You will be required to detail your reasons for pursuing the course in a separate document. In this letter you should describe your future plans, explaining the importance of the course programme in this regard. These motivation letters will be important criteria in the selection by the home university.
